Baymax Crochet Amigurumi

October 25, 2014 by Jennifer 4 Comments

The first time I laid eyes on this big smooshy squoooshie huggable guy from Big Hero 6 I fell in love.  I’ve never written my own amigurumi pattern before, but I needed to make a Baymax.  Right.  This.  Second.

I grabbed a notebook and scribbled out a drawing and paid attention to proportions and calculated dimensions and all of this before my first cuppa joe at 5:30 on a Saturday morning…before I had the presence of mind to remember that I had no idea what I was doing.

Head.  Easypeasy.  Legs.  Easypeasy.  The body shape…little harder, but still doable.  The ARMS, however.  Two weeks, a couple of different ideas and a bunch of false starts, and an accidental new project coming up soon.  I think I finally nailed it.

He’s rather cute, don’t you think?

I’m so proud of my first pattern writing project.  I was a little nervous to release it into the wild, let alone sell it, but I’m not going to let those little self-doubt gremlins get in the way this time.  I hope the version of Baymax I gave life to puts a smile on someone’s face.  =)

I hope you all are having a lovely weekend!  The weather in my little corner of the world is absolutely gorgeous right now and I am very much looking forward to a little hiking through the woods and crunching through leaves this afternoon.
