You might have noticed some BIG changes over here at Jen’s a Little Loopy! Good googly moogly this was a project and a half. Seriously this little bloggy makeover has tested the limits of my barely existent design skills but in the end I am (mostly) SO pleased with it!
Since losing my day job, I have had a LOT of free time on my hands. The first couple of days were packed with appointments and errands, so I didn’t really notice that I wasn’t working. But the first day I sent my little guy off to school and was left with an empty house…
I wasn’t prepared to feel lonely. Sniff sniff.
I’ve been a mama since I was 18, and until last week my days were packed with kids, school, and work (a lot of times all three at once!). In 22 years, I have never had an empty house or a limitless expanse of unscheduled time. There has always been a kid around to hang out with, or a paper to finish, or chores and errands and sports to cram in around work hours. I have never really had an opportunity to wake up, chart a course for the day based only on things I want to do, and then execute the plan. At least not without juggling my plan and kiddo entertainment/management at the same time!
This is both exciting and terrifying.
I have been given a huge opportunity to tear down what my life was and construct what it will become. Some of the ideas I have are so risky and dangerous that I am a little afraid to get started for fear of failing. Others are things I have always wanted to do but never had the time. Right now I am just going to let my brain wander directionless for a week or so and see where it ends up. Lately it has been ending up in the most interesting places! Boredom is a good thing!
So the plan:
Two weeks: Crafting. Deep cleaning the house and clearing out space and clutter. Baking. Reading. Taking walks. Going to the gym. Shaking off the cobwebs. Putting the finishing touches on my blog makeover.
There is a bigger plan that involves career decisions, home improvement tasks, and a really cool super secret project involving a closet under the stairs. But I’m taking a small break from being so driven and goal oriented before I think much about those.
I’ve made my bucket list and will share it next week, but I’m amazed that in a few short days I was able to cross off a bunch of tasks. I’m gonna need a bigger list. 😉
At the end of this no day job pause, I realllllly don’t want to look back and see squandered opportunities and wish I had not spent all day on the sofa eating chips and watching…er…what do people watch on tv all day? (If you have some recommendations for some good binge-watching please do share! I enjoy watching tv while crafting and I am making time for lots of that!)
Have a lovely weekend and we’ll chat on Monday!
